What a busy month October has been first we went to the THORNTON’S Chocolate evening at Weston Coyney where we got to taste free chocolates and at the end of the evening we were able to buy Thornton’s products at a reduced price and 10% off the total as well.
Next came the evening at the Regent Theatre to see Grumpy Old Women, Brit Ekland, Denise Black and Diane Keen were in this and they kept us entertained for 90 minutes with an interval in the middle. What a fun evening that was.
Then the Autumn Council Meeting at County Showground where about 400 WI members from Staffordshire meet and enjoy the day. They have a speaker in the morning and one in the afternoon. This event is always popular.
Our own Fiveways Group Meeting held this year at Leigh was an excellent evening. This had an Halloween Theme. Leigh WI being the Hostess Institute and one member and friends gave an excellent entertainment at the end.
Leigh WI was granted an Awards for all from the Lottery Fund earlier this year so that members can go to the WI Collage at Denman in Oxford to learn a new skill or extend their knowledge on something they already know. I was the first to go at the end of October where I had a refresher course on Bobbin Lace. We had an excellent tutor and all too soon it was time to come home.
