When I say council I meen the council roadmen , snow fencing and local roadmen are both long gone. A bit different than today when you almost fall over them all over the world. We started off by digging out parkhall lane to get down to Tean then we went up around Ipstones and Cauldon Low and that area. Some days we would open a road but by dinner time we had to turn round and dig ourselves out again. Great times. I shall always remember the old guys we were working with up there ,at dinner time they used to light a fire in an oil drum and cook bacon on their shovels.
